macaroons @ cacao fine chocolates & patisserie

i've been wanting to get my hands on the macaroons at QV. but grace told me the macaroons at GPO is very nice and she's missing it already. so happen the trams are not going to operate on swanston street for 2 days. i didn't want to walk, so i chose to go to the one grace mentioned. it's at the corner of bourke and elizabeth - inside melbourne GPO.

the macaroons cost about $2.20 for one piece. there were only 4 flavours left, the short cut, raspberry, lemon and coconut.

i don't like raspberry or coconut, so i picked the remaining two - short cut and lemon.

shikin ordered tea as well. which is why her plate is much nicer than mine. :S

the one thing i know about eating macaroons is to drink loads of water. it's very sweet. u'd probably want to drink tea instead, but i still prefer water.

so our initial plan to go to fashion exposed failed. we went to DFO instead. :)

i'm going to end it here just because i'm lazy to type. HAHAHA. read shikin's post for more details.

the next stop : QV's cupcake family for macaroons. ^^

lunch @ wagamama, chadstone

i made my way down to chadstone last sunday to collect some stuff. taking a cab to chadstone will probably cost us $30-40 one way, so no cab for us. we took a train to caufield instead.

from caufield, we were supposed to catch a bus to chadstone. but... the sueh-ness begins here. the road to the bus stop was closed - no bus can enter. so we walked to the main road to the next bus stop. that is almost 3kms i am talking about!

as we were approaching the station, we saw a bus that heads down to chadstone, arriving at the bus stop. all we need to do is to run across the street, and we did. BUT the bus did not wait for us!!! FOL to the max. we had to wait approximately 16 minutes for the next bus.

we entered the bus and i validated my ticket. the machine ATE my ticket and did not spit it out again. wtf??? and it's a 5 x weekend daily ticket. i have 1 more validate before i can throw it away. then the bus driver got so irritated and said it was my fault for putting it wrongly. wtf??? i've been doing that all the time in the tram and it works perfectly fine. it's definitely the validator's fault.

there goes my ticket. he took my number down and said somebody will call me to return a new one, but until today i did not receive a single call. metlink is so inefficient. zzzzz! nvm lah 3aud. so sueh. i was ticket-less for the rest of the day. luckily the officers accepted my excuse of "ticket stuck in machine". otherwise i'll have to fork out another $3 to buy a new ticket.

we arrived at chadstone, like finally. i didn't want to eat at the food court. we all agreed on wagamama instead. totally reminds me of wakawaka =X

wagamama ramen - it was okay. but i wouldn't pay $18 for just a bowl of ramen.

i ordered bento box. i think it's too expensive for such a portion. i don't mind paying for the food, so long as it's good.

not as good as expected. i don't think i will eat there again.

edamame, something that i don't like.

i like salad but this one tastes weird. :S

ebi gyoza as side dish. i don't know about you but i certainly have never eaten such bad gyoza before.

the main. i ordered beef teriyaki. the portion is really small, considering that i'm still in aussie.

chicken teriyaki.

miso soup comes with the bento box

i'd rather save my money for something better. :S

dinner @ vlado's charcoal grill, richmond

this place is always full. it is highly unlikely to get a table without reserving. all they have is their set menu that costs almost $100 per person. the appetizer comes first, a huge sausage which i did not snap the picture. i was too hungry to remember. *gobbles* :S

meals are served with salad. they kept on refilling whenever the serving goes down to half.

then it would be the entree - meat platter, consists of beef and pork slices.

i'm already stuffed by the time the main course arrives. sirloin, medium.

the dessert as the finale. strawberry crepes served with ice cream and strawberry. at least 8-10 strawberries for 1 portion. damn sour eww. :S

300 metres above ground

it was my second time going up to eureka 88. except that the first time wasn't exactly to visit, was for a dinner. so it makes my first visit up at eureka 88 after a year and the half staying in the same tower. :S

the exact view from the unit i'm staying, but it is 28 floors higher. :)

i tried taking it without flash and all i got was an image with black figure. :S

i forgot to bring the tripod jerine gave me :(

i survived the edge! the edge is a little glass cube where you can see almost everything! more details here.

movie day!

so we went to laksa king again. second try because the our first visit was not that good probably because there were too many people. even after the second try i don't find their curry very nice lor. the nasi lemak with rendang was good. curry chicken.. er i don't really find it nice. the specialty is not really that nice to begin with. sooo i don't think i will go there again. twice is enough? oh do not order the cincau. it doesn't taste like cincau and the entire cup of drink is too sweet.

after dinner we wanted to take a train back to melbourne central. but the train just left so we had to wait for 30 minutes... being impatient people, we took a tram back to town.

back in the city, we headed to hoyts at melbourne central for step up 3D. which is why we all look funny wearing those 3D glasses. i love the show, regardless what everyone says about the show. it seems weird to watch this show in 3D, but i don't care. at the end of the day, i'll still say that it is good. ;)

dinner @ kitchen workshop, crown

we went to kitchen workshop at crown for dinner. it was a random pick, cause we didn't know which restaurant to go. so it was a buffet dinner, $23.50 per person. it was not really worth the money considering the variety of food and the sort of lousy service. the indian man who cooked the teppanyaki beef for me was quite rude. anyway for such a price, i'd rather go for steamboat buffet at mama sichuan - for only $22!

speaking of which... it was alan's farewell dinner. he is all done with uni and is leaving melbourne already. i don't think he'll be back in melbourne till end of the year's convocation. congrats alan, all the best!
